Five people have been arrested as part of an ongoing investigation into a shooting in Rochdale earlier this month. Police say enquiries are continuing and additional patrols remain in place.
Officers investigating the incident on Beswicke Royds Street on Thursday 5 March have confirmed three further arrests, bringing the total number of people detained to five.
A 19-year-old man was arrested on Thursday, 26 March, on suspicion of conspiracy to commit grievous bodily harm with intent, violent disorder and possession of an offensive weapon. He remains in custody for questioning.
A 17-year-old man arrested on Wednesday, 25 March, on suspicion of the same offences has been bailed pending further investigation.
Another 19-year-old man, arrested on Tuesday, 24 March, on suspicion of conspiracy to commit grievous bodily harm with intent, violent disorder and possession of an offensive weapon, has also been bailed.
Two other men previously arrested in connection with the investigation have been released on bail as enquiries continue.
Detective Inspector Matthew Hamer from the Major Incident Team said: “We have now made five arrests in connection with this incident.
“This was an unacceptable crime, and we want to reassure the community that we are doing everything possible to keep people safe. Additional patrols have been deployed in the area, and at this stage, we believe this was a targeted attack.
“Our investigation is moving at pace. We are absolutely committed to finding everyone involved in this shooting, and our officers will leave no stone unturned as we work to fully understand what happened and bring those responsible to justice.
“We continue to appeal for information and urge anyone who may know anything to come forward and support our investigation.”
Police are asking anyone with information or who witnessed the incident to contact them on 101 quoting log 2097 of 5 March 2026, or call 999 in an emergency.
