A couple have moved into a new build home in Bury with financial support through a key worker scheme, saving more than £16000 on their purchase.
Claire Woodall and Leighton Shaw moved into a three bedroom property at the Waldmers Wood development in Bury with their two daughters after relocating from Stockport. The family received £16200 through a deposit contribution scheme linked to Claire’s role as a nurse.
They had lived in their previous home since 2007 and decided to move in search of a more rural setting and a newly built property. The purchase was supported by equity from their former home alongside the contribution from the developer.
Claire Woodall said the scheme made the move more affordable and easier to manage. She said the financial support was important in helping the family secure their new home.
The family spent around four months searching before choosing the development. They reserved the property after receiving an offer on their previous house and moved in once construction was complete.
Their new home includes modern design features and updated energy systems. Claire Woodall said the property includes solar panels and improved insulation, which has reduced household energy costs. She said electricity bills had dropped from around £140 per month in their previous home to about £70 per month during winter.
She said the layout and additional space were key factors in their decision, including larger bathrooms, a separate hallway and an extra bathroom.
The move has also changed the family’s day to day routine, with greater access to outdoor space. Claire Woodall said they now spend more time walking and cycling in nearby countryside and have become involved in the local community.
The development continues to offer a range of properties, with prices starting from £203000.
