Emergency services closed Wardle Road in Rochdale following an ongoing incident this afternoon. 4 January, causing disruption for drivers in the area.

Greater Manchester Police (GMP) are currently turning motorists away at the junction with Halifax Road, as officers work alongside colleagues from North West Ambulance Service.

Reports also suggest that Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service is on scene, although this has not yet been officially confirmed.

The nature of the incident has not yet been disclosed. GMP has been approached for comment, and updates will follow as soon as more information becomes available.

The closure is affecting local traffic and anyone attempting to travel through Wardle or towards Littleborough is advised to find alternative routes.
