Police are appealing for witnesses after a 77-year-old woman was left with potentially life-changing injuries in a serious crash on Birch Street, Bury.
A major police appeal has been launched after a serious road traffic collision in Bury left a pensioner hospitalised with severe injuries.
The incident took place at around 1pm on Friday 24 October on Birch Street, between Walmersley Road and the junction with the A56. A Renault truck is reported to have struck the 77-year-old woman while she was crossing the road.
Emergency services were quickly on the scene, and the woman was rushed to hospital where she remains in a serious condition. Greater Manchester Police say her injuries may be life-changing.
Specialist officers from GMP’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit are leading the enquiry and are now asking the public to come forward with any information.
A GMP spokesperson said: “We are appealing for anyone who may have seen the collision, or who has any relevant footage, such as CCTV, dashcam, or mobile phone recordings, from the area around the time of the incident to get in touch.”
The force is particularly interested in footage captured in the moments leading up to the crash and any accounts from people who were in the area between 12.45pm and 1.15pm.
The incident occurred in a busy residential area, close to local businesses and schools. GMP has not yet confirmed whether the driver of the truck remained at the scene.
