An 81-year-old woman has been rescued from a body of water on Queens Park Road in Heywood after police were called to a concern for welfare this morning, Sunday, 21 September.
Emergency services were alerted to the scene at around 7:38am. Upon arrival, they discovered the woman in the water and swiftly took her to safety.
She was transported to hospital where she is currently receiving treatment. Her condition has not been disclosed at this time.
A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Police said to Roch Valley Radio:
“Officers responded to a call regarding a concern for welfare on Queens Park Road, Heywood, at around 7:38am on Sunday 21 September. Emergency services attended and an 81-year-old woman was located in the water. She was safely removed and taken to hospital, where she remains under medical care. Enquiries are ongoing, but there are no suspicious circumstances at this time.”


Residents in the area reported seeing a large emergency service presence near Queens Park in the early hours, though the scene was cleared later in the morning.
