Drivers in Bury are being warned to expect delays, with a main road leading from Ramsbottom to the town centre to be impacted by five sets of roadworks.
Temporary traffic lights have been erected along the A56 Walmersley Road, which becomes Manchester Road towards Ramsbottom.
Five lots of planned highway works and urgent repairs are to be carried out. Drivers are being warned to plan ahead.
Bury council issued a warning on social media. It read “Due to a clash between planned highway works already underway and other urgent arising issues that must be attended to right away, there are now five sets of temporary traffic lights from Chesham Road through to south of Park Farm Tea Rooms on Manchester Road, Ramsbottom.
“Please expect delays and allow more travel time. Use an alternative route, if possible. The extra urgent works will be monitored and completed as quickly as possible.”
The works are a combination of planned highway upgrades and maintenance works, due to finish between February 23 and 27. Meanwhile Cadent Gas are carrying out crucial repair and maintenance works near Bass Lane on Walmersley Rd. They have also warned that ‘delays are likely’ and are due to complete the works by February 24.
