Councillor Tamoor Tariq's vehicle has been photographed parking illegally outside Bury Police Station
Eyewitnesses reported that Cllr Tamoor Tariq's car was spotted parked on a stretch of road clearly marked with double yellow lines on Wednesday 18th October.
The vehicle was parked outside Bury Police Station at the community policing meeting. Residents and shop owners expressed their disappointment at what they saw as a disregard for the rules, especially from someone in a leadership position.
Jane, a local resident who works on Bury Market and has to pay for parking each day, stated, "It's disappointing to see anyone park illegally, but especially someone who represents our community in the position that Tamoor does. It sends the wrong message, especially whilst the vehicle is outside a police station of all places.”
This incident, however, has raised eyebrows about his commitment to upholding the very rules the council enforces.
When approached for comment, Cllr Tamoor Tariq did not respond.
Bury Council said that they would not comment on individual cases related to parking.
