A new community walking initiative called Mayfield Movers is set to launch in 2026, with the goal of improving physical health, reducing isolation, and strengthening community ties across the borough.
The inclusive scheme will welcome residents of all fitness levels and abilities. It is being designed as a friendly, low-pressure way to encourage people to get outdoors, connect with others, and feel part of the wider community.
Organisers say the group will also raise money for local causes, adding a charitable purpose to the regular walks. While final plans are still being shaped, the initiative is being built around accessibility, participation and wellbeing.
Further details about routes, meeting points and how to get involved are expected to be announced closer to the 2026 launch.
In the meantime, residents are being encouraged to follow Mayfield Movers for future updates. Organisers have thanked the public for the early interest and said they are excited to bring the programme to life.
