Councillor Jordan Tarrant Short has stepped down as deputy leader of Reform UK in Rochdale and relinquished his portfolio responsibilities.
The move has been described by Reform UK's Rochdale Leader, Councillor John Taylor as a personal decision.
In a message provided to Roch Valley Radio, Councillor Tarrant Short said: “Before any rumours start I have willingly stepped down as deputy leader of the Reform Party in Rochdale and the portfolio position.”
The announcement comes weeks after Councillor Tarrant Short stepped aside from the leadership role, with Councillor John Taylor becoming leader.
Responding to questions from Roch Valley Radio, Councillor Taylor confirmed that Councillor Mark Stevens has taken over as deputy leader.
Councillor Taylor said: “Jordan has stepped back for personal reasons, he has just lost his sister, he is running an expanding business and wants to focus on his ward.
“I want to place on record my thanks to him for all his hard work and dedication over the last year and look forward to the coming months as we continue to work together.”
Councillor Tarrant Short remains a serving councillor and is expected to continue representing residents in his ward.
