Cardinal Langley RC High School has been shortlisted for an Educate Award for its commitment to school sport and running events across Rochdale.
The Middleton school is in the running for the “Outstanding Commitment to Sport in Secondary School” award. It comes after a strong year where staff delivered over 100 after-school fixtures and supported more than 100 students each week through extra-curricular clubs.
The school has also run 22 girls-only tournaments to improve participation in sport, and continues to lead the Rochdale Schools PE Forum, which brings local schools together through shared events and competitions.
The Educate Awards celebrate schools across the North West. This year’s winners will be announced on Friday 14 November at Liverpool Anglican Cathedral.
Cardinal Langley is up against Maghull High School and St James’ Catholic High School for the secondary sport award.
The awards night includes live performances, a meal and presentations across 21 categories, from sport and STEM to leadership and mental health.
Educate Awards founder Kim O’Brien said this year’s shortlist showed the range of work happening in schools. “Congratulations to Cardinal Langley RC High School on being shortlisted,” she said.
