A car has crashed into the main entrance of Rochdale Infirmary, damaging the structure of the canopy but causing no injuries.
The incident happened this morning, Thursday, 5 February.
The incident prompted the brief closure of the hospital’s main entrance.
A spokesperson for the Northern Care Alliance NHS Foundation Trust, which runs the site, confirmed the entrance was quickly reopened after checks were completed.
“Earlier today, a minor car collision occurred at the main entrance at Rochdale Infirmary,” the spokesperson said. “No injuries were reported and the main entrance was closed briefly whilst we assessed the damage. The main entrance was re-opened shortly after the incident.”
Photos from the scene showed visible damage to the support pillars of the canopy covering the front entrance. The vehicle involved was seen with a smashed front bumper, resting on the pavement.
It is not yet known why the driver parked here.
