A Bolton choir for people affected by cancer is inviting new singers to join as it begins rehearsals for the new year.
Bolton Cancer Voices, which has been running for nearly 14 years, is open to anyone aged 18 or over who has received a cancer diagnosis at any point in their life. The group, made up of around 35 members, including a third who are men, meets weekly and aims to bring people together through the uplifting experience of singing.
Founder Karen Elliott described the choir as more than just a musical outlet. “Not only is singing a great, fun activity to get involved in, choirs are communities that enable people to connect, share their passion and enjoy great choral experiences,” she said.
“They are recognised as offering health and wellbeing benefits, provide learning and development opportunities, and a place to grow in confidence. Friendships blossom, voices soar, and precious memories are made. What’s not to love?”
No previous experience or ability to read music is needed, and there are no auditions. Membership is completely free, with the choir welcoming people from Bolton and beyond, whether beginners or experienced singers.
Anyone interested in joining can contact Karen Elliott on 01204 595562 or 07773 164235. Further information is available on the choir’s Facebook and Instagram pages.
