Bury East was buzzing with excitement yesterday as the Bury Mela event finally went ahead at Openshaw Park in Bury, despite initial funding struggles.
The event was organized by Cllr Ummrana Farooq and the BAME project, who were determined to make it happen for the community. The event was a wonderful success, with people of all ages and backgrounds coming together to celebrate the vibrant culture of the BAME community in Bury East.
There were delicious food stalls, lively music and dance performances, and plenty of activities for children to enjoy.
Cllr Ummrana expressed her gratitude to everyone who supported the event, saying, "We are thrilled that the Bury Mela was such a success. It just goes to show what can be achieved when we work together as a community. We hope to make this an annual event, and we look forward to seeing even more people next year."
The Bury Mela was a shining example of the power of community spirit and determination. Despite the odds, Cllr Ummrana and the BAME project were able to bring people together in a celebration of diversity and culture. It was a day to remember for everyone involved.
