Bury AFC players have donated £1,000 to a fundraiser to help fund a fan's funeral.
Amanda Freeman, known as Mandy, passed away on Wednesday and the community of Bury was shocked by the news.
Bury AFC's players were quick to act after the fundraiser was published and donate the money accumulated in fines throughout the season to the cause.
Defender Jimmy Moore said: "Mandy was a special person she brought joy to everyone around her.
"Jono [Jonathan Hunt] actually had the idea we should donate our fines money to the fundraiser and it took about 10 seconds for us all to agree!! She epitomised what Bury AFC is all about and we thank her for all she has done.
"Her memory will live on."
The fundraiser was set up on Friday by Mandy's friend and fellow Bury AFC volunteer Samantha Harman.
"The passing of our friend and fellow volunteer Mandy has really devastated the whole club and the wider Bury community, Samantha said
"With permission from Mandy’s partner Martin and her family, we are looking to raise as much money as possible to help them pay towards Mandy’s funeral as we know how expensive they are and can be a huge financial burden on families."
Bury AFC matchday secretary, Andrew Corns, who worked with Mandy closely on matchdays, has described the players as "fantastic ambassadors" for the club.
The fundraiser has raised over £3,000 so far. Click here if you'd like to donate.
