Emergency services are currently on scene of an incident at the Rochdale canal.
Oldham Road is closed between Woodbine Street and Crawford Street.
This is causing traffic congestion on Oldham Road, and motorists are advised to seek alternative routes where possible.
A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service (GMFRS) said:
“At just before 4.30pm on Sunday (May 4) two fire engines and water incident units were called to an incident at the Rochdale Canal off Oldham Road, Rochdale.
“Crews remain in attendance alongside partners.”
Greater Manchester Police & North West Ambulance Service have been contacted for comment.
