Body found in Heaton Park during search for missing Bury man Craig Foy

Police searching for missing Whitefield man Craig Foy have found a body believed to be his in the Heaton Park area. The 40-year-old was last seen near Bury Old Road in Prestwich on Saturday 26 July.

Greater Manchester Police confirmed the discovery was made following extensive CCTV enquiries which led detectives from the Major Incident Team to search within the park.

Although formal identification has not yet taken place, the body is thought to be that of Craig. His family has been informed and is being supported by specialist officers during what police describe as an “extremely difficult time”.

Detective Chief Inspector Jill Billington, from GMP’s Serious Crime Division, said: “The investigation remains active as we work to understand the circumstances leading up to Craig’s death and to ensure we can provide the answers his family deserve.

“We are grateful for the public’s support in sharing our appeals and now ask that Craig’s loved ones are given the privacy and space to come to terms with their loss.”

Craig’s disappearance triggered a large-scale public appeal and search effort, with residents in Whitefield and Prestwich asked to check doorbell footage, sheds and outbuildings.

Police are continuing to urge anyone with relevant information or footage to come forward. Members of the public can call 101 quoting log number 917-28/7/25, or contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
