Hopwood Hall College is celebrating after staff were honoured in the Pearson National Teaching Awards, one of the biggest accolades in the education world.
The Hair, Beauty and Catering team picked up a Silver Award for Further Education Team of the Year. It was handed over in person at the college’s Rochdale campus by Pearson’s Mark Bashforth on Thank a Teacher Day.
Motor Vehicle tutor Andrew Heaton was also named Highly Commended in the Further Education Lecturer of the Year category, while five more members of staff were recognised during the event.
Sophia Hopwood, Jacquie Brockett, Corina Marcroft and David Mills all received Certificates of Excellence, with Chris Formetti being awarded a Certificate of Nomination.
Chair of Governors Gary Buxton gave a heartfelt speech to mark the occasion and thank staff for their hard work and dedication.
The college described the day as “emotional and inspiring” and said the awards reflect the passion and commitment of tutors who go the extra mile every day. Hopwood Hall has campuses in both Rochdale and Middleton and is well known for its vocational courses.
The Pearson National Teaching Awards are held each year to recognise outstanding work in schools and colleges across the country.
Hopwood Hall said it was proud to see so many of its staff being recognised and thanked everyone who came along to celebrate.
