A Rochdale based community charity has marked the end of the year by delivering Christmas hampers to residents in supported housing, continuing its weekly work supporting people facing hardship.
Army of Kindness delivered festive hampers to residents at Jack McCann Court as part of its Christmas support activities, bringing the year to a close with a focus on kindness and community connection.
The charity has supported residents at the scheme throughout the year through a series of projects and events aimed at reducing isolation and providing practical help. The Christmas hampers were donated by students from Falinge Park High School and were distributed by volunteers in the days leading up to the festive period.
Volunteers said the hampers were warmly received, with residents expressing appreciation for both the gifts and the continued support shown to them over the past year.
Army of Kindness operates a weekly hot food kitchen in Rochdale for people who are homeless, vulnerable or experiencing financial difficulty. The service runs every Thursday evening and provides hot meals in a welcoming and supportive setting.
The charity says its work is rooted in creating a sense of belonging and dignity for those facing hardship, with food provision forming part of wider efforts to support people through difficult circumstances.
Volunteers involved in the hamper delivery said the visit reflected the charity’s wider mission to ensure people feel valued and remembered, particularly at times of year when loneliness can be more pronounced.
The group has thanked everyone involved in donating, volunteering and supporting its work locally, and has wished residents seasonal good wishes and a happy New Year.
