Aldi store near Heaton Park embraces Manc music nostalgia with cheeky new name ahead of Oasis reunion gigs.
Oasis fever has hit the streets of Prestwich as Aldi’s Bury New Road branch unveils a temporary new sign that reads ‘Aldeh’, a nod to the Gallagher brothers and the city’s famously proud Mancunian dialect.
The supermarket’s eye-catching rebrand arrives just weeks ahead of the band’s highly anticipated reunion concerts at Heaton Park. Fans have already begun gathering outside the store in bucket hats and parkas to take photos, fuelling excitement as Manchester gears up to host its biggest music comeback in years.
The new ‘Aldeh’ signage was first spotted on social media, with one shopper posting: “Just on my way to do my weekly shop and what do I see? Aldeh! It’s absolutely brilliant. Oasis are coming home and this hilarious tribute tops it off… it’s a great time to be in Manchester!”
Aldi’s decision to rename the Prestwich store, less than a mile from the concert venue, was described as a tribute to the region’s musical heritage.
Julie Ashfield, Chief Commercial Officer at Aldi UK, said: “Manchester is a vibrant city with a rich musical history, and with the Oasis reunion, we wanted to mark the occasion. By temporarily renaming our Bury New Road store to ‘Aldeh,’ we’re celebrating both the local dialect and the legendary band that has brought so much joy to fans worldwide.”
The Oasis gigs at Heaton Park run from 11 to 20 July, marking the band’s first reunion performances in over a decade. The Aldi branch is already being tipped as a must-visit pitstop for fans en route to the concerts.
In true throwback spirit, Aldi is also launching a new fashion item for fans, the Aldimania Bucket Hat. Priced at £4.99, the retro-inspired hats will be available in stores nationwide from 3 July.
The rebrand forms part of a wider wave of nostalgia sweeping the city ahead of the concerts, with businesses and fans alike celebrating the band’s legacy in creative and tongue-in-cheek ways.
