Additional resources deployed, as police investigate incident in Bury

At around 1.20pm yesterday (27/4/2023) police were called to reports that a car was in the water near to Aviation Road, Pilsworth.

It is believed that a number of people from two cars became involved in an altercation and enquiries have established that a man in his 40’s has suffered superficial injuries.

Two men have been arrested and remain in GMP’s custody for questioning.

A section 60 was put in place in between 9.50pm yesterday evening and 12pm today in the areas surrounding Aviation Road, Pilsworth and Woodhill Road, Bury and extra uniformed officers will be providing high visibility patrols in the areas in the coming days.

Detective Chief Inspector Chris Walker, of GMP’s Bury District, said: “Whilst we believe this incident is targeted and there is no wider threat to the public, these measures have been put in place to ensure our community is kept safe from harm.

“Utilising these powers is not a decision we take lightly, we are committed to keeping the public safe and bringing perpetrators to justice.

"I would like to thank the public for their support, and I appeal to them to continue coming forwards with information. Any information, CCTV, doorbell or dashcam footage you may have, even if you think your piece of information is insignificant, it could be a huge help to our investigation.”

Police are appealing to anyone who was in the area at the time or who has any information about this incident to contact officers on 0161 856 8562 or 101 quoting log 1661 of 27/4/2023.
