Middleton pile on 310 to beat Rochdale by 164 runs

Middleton produced a dominant batting display before bowling Rochdale out for 146 to secure a 164 run victory in the JW Lees Senior Division Two.

After winning the toss and choosing to bat at Towncroft, Middleton posted an imposing 310 for four from their 50 overs.

Imran Rafiq led the innings with 123 from 132 balls, including 17 fours and a six, before being well supported by an unbeaten 123 from Tom Gilbertson, who struck 16 fours and four sixes from just 85 deliveries.

Ali Muzaffar added 41 at the top of the order, while Haroon Kashmiri finished unbeaten on seven.

Rochdale's wickets were shared between Rhys Tierney, Dawood Rahman, Dale Highton and Thomas Rutter, with one apiece.

Set a revised target of 311 from 50 overs, Rochdale struggled to build partnerships and were dismissed for 146 in 31.5 overs.

Middleton completed a convincing 164 run victory to claim the maximum 12 points, while Rochdale were left without a point from the contest.
