A teenager from Bolton has been charged with murder following the fatal stabbing of Mohammed Afzal in Bury last week.
Greater Manchester Police have charged Abbas Hussain, born 18 February 2006, with murder and possession of a bladed article after officers were called to a car park on Market Street in Bury shortly before 9pm on Friday 1 August.
Mr Hussain has been remanded in custody and was due to appear before Manchester Magistrates Court on Tuesday 5 August.
Two other men, both aged 19, remain in custody, while two others who were also arrested have been released on bail pending further enquiries.
The victim, named by police as Mohammed Afzal, died after being found with serious injuries at the scene. His family are being supported by specialist officers.
Detective Chief Inspector John Charlton, from GMP’s Major Incident Team, said: “Our dedicated officers are working tirelessly on this case and have secured one charge of murder in relation to the tragic death of Mohammed.
“As our investigation continues, we encourage anyone with information to come forward – either by contacting us directly or by reaching out to Crimestoppers anonymously.”
