Greater Manchester Police have suspended a Superintendent from duty, following an internal allegation of misconduct.
The force has referred the officer to the Independent Office for Police Conduct, who will decide if an independent investigation is required.
The identity of the officer is not known at this time.
A brief statement from GMP's Deputy Chief Constable Terry Woods reads: “Following an internal allegation of misconduct, a Superintendent has been suspended from duty and referred to the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) - who are carrying out an initial assessment to determine whether an independent investigation is required."
