Greater Manchester Police have launched Operation Avro, a day of action across the public transport network.
The two-day operation aims to promote safety across the transport network.
Supt Gareth Parkin, of GMP's Safer Transport team lead a briefing alongside Alex Cropper from Transport for Greater Manchester in Piccadilly Gardens this morning.
Police will be working alongside partners including Beryl Bikes, Metrolink & the bus operators.
District officers will be working alongside Specialist Operation Teams, who will be deployed at key strategic locations.
Supt Parkin said: "We refer to the transport network as our 11th district. This is why it's really important for us to promote and maintain visibility across this network.
"It also sends out that clear and stark message to those intent on committing crime and anti-social behaviour that this will not be tolerated and you will be dealt with robustly."
Supt Parkin added the public are welcome to talk to officers whilst their on operation and offer feedback.
