GMP responded to calls received at approximately 5.50pm on Whitworth Road, Rochdale last night, Tuesday 27 June 2023, of a police vehicle being rammed.
The vehicle had been in pursuit of a vehicle which was acting suspiciously. It was this vehicle that rammed the police vehicle before driving off.
Officers are now looking for witnesses to trace the vehicle responsible.
Neighbourhood Inspector Meena Yasin at Rochdale said: "We are looking for a white, Ford Ranger that has damage to the rear. We believe that the vehicle was travelling on false plates.
"We are keen to hear from anyone who has seen the vehicle, who may have witnessed the incident last night or anyone who has any CCTV, doorbell or dashcam footage focusing on Whitworth Road in Rochdale at the time.
"This vehicle purposefully and forcefully rammed into the police officers vehicle and moved it backwards by approximately 20 metres, causing the airbags in the vehicle to go off. Both officers had to attend hospital to receive treatment for their injuries.
