Rochdale Borough Council has launched an appeal for information following a significant fly-tipping incident on Ashfield Lane in Milnrow, near Kingsway Business Park.
A large pile of waste was discovered dumped in the area, prompting the council to seek witnesses or anyone with information that might lead to identifying those responsible. The council issued the appeal via social media this afternoon, urging residents to report any sightings or suspicions.
A spokesperson for the council said: "We need to hear from you if you witnessed anything or know who may be responsible. Always do your checks before booking a waste removal firm, or you run the risk of paying a fine."
Residents are reminded of their legal duty to ensure waste is disposed of properly. Those who fail to use licensed waste carriers can face prosecution, even if they are not directly responsible for fly-tipping.
The council's message also reinforces their commitment to tackling environmental crime, stating: "See it, report it, let's end fly-tipping."
Anyone with information is asked to contact Rochdale Council on 0300 303 8884 quoting reference number 1904 or email environmental.management@rochdale.gov.uk. Reports can also be made online at any time via rochdale.gov.uk/flytipping.
Fly-tipping remains a persistent issue across the borough, and the council has stepped up its enforcement efforts in recent years. They continue to encourage residents to report such incidents promptly to help maintain clean and safe neighbourhoods.
