Bury Football Club have delivered a witty comeback after Noel Gallagher mocked them during Oasis’s Heaton Park reunion, reminding the rock star of the time the Shakers beat his beloved Manchester City.
Thousands packed Heaton Park this week to see the third of five comeback gigs by Oasis. But during Wednesday night’s show, Noel Gallagher couldn't resist a jab at Bury FC, joking about them being saying, “Who do you support, fucking Bury? Bury are fxxking sxxt.”, in what appeared to be a sarcastic swipe at the club’s stature.

Man City: 0

However, Bury FC didn’t take it lying down.
The club responded online with a sharp throwback: a 1998 clip showing Bury beating Manchester City 1-0 at Maine Road, with the winner scored by Paul Butler, himself a lifelong City fan.
The club wrote, “Here’s our ticket link if you wanna roll with it and watch the champions in action,” referencing the Oasis hit Roll With It.
It’s a textbook case of using viral publicity to boost visibility. While Gallagher’s quip might have drawn laughs from some, Bury turned it into a win, showcasing their history and promoting upcoming matches at Gigg Lane.
Their repost highlighted the club’s current success story too. Bury FC are heading into the 2025/26 season as Premier Division champions, with a major sponsorship deal recently announced.
