Thousands of music fans gathered at Heaton Park as Parklife 2026 returned for its opening day in warm weather, bringing major performances, new festival features and a surprise appearance from rapper Aitch.

The first day of the festival saw revellers enjoy dry and sunny conditions, a contrast to some previous editions of the event.

Organisers introduced several additions for 2026, including new food and retail areas, secret performances and expanded visitor experiences across the site.

Among the early highlights was a busy turnout for electronic duo Prospa, followed by Manchester DJ Josh Baker, who returned to the festival after his appearance last year was cut short when a stage closed shortly after his set began.

Drum and bass collective 4am Kru attracted a large audience with a performance combining live music, dance and beatboxing, while Artful Dodger drew crowds at the Beatbox arena with a set featuring classic garage tracks.

Happy Mondays star Bez also appeared with a scheduled DJ set before Manchester rapper Aitch made an unannounced appearance during BOU's performance, joining him on stage for renditions of Raving In The Studio and Ring My Bell.

Later in the evening, Nia Archives and Skepta delivered headline performances at The Valley stage before Sammy Virji closed the opening day with a set featuring guest appearances from Skepta and Flowdan alongside a fireworks display.
