Rochdale Mayfield’s April Tryz session has marked a major step for the developing squad after players trained outdoors for the first time.
Led by Carl Abraham, Wiggy Whatmough and Richard Higgs, the session gave players their first opportunity to train outdoors, something the coaching team had been keen to introduce when weather conditions allowed.
Players trained on the same pitch used by the club’s first team, offering a stronger connection to the wider club environment while allowing individuals to showcase their abilities in a new setting.
Throughout the session, players showed confidence and commitment, consistently challenging themselves and engaging with each activity. Coaching staff said it has been encouraging to see individuals develop both their ability and self belief as part of an inclusive and supportive programme.

The club has also confirmed the arrival of the team’s first playing kit, marking another step in the squad’s progress.
The next session will include a media day, where players and coaches will be presented with squad numbered playing and training kits.
Coaches plan to continue outdoor training where possible, gradually introducing more game specific elements as the squad prepares for its first festival appearance.
