Forever Bury have confirmed a deal to purchase Gigg Lane from the administrator has been completed.

Confirming the news in a statement on Friday evening they said: “We are delighted to announce that today we closed on the purchase of Gigg Lane from the Administrator, and it is now a community asset, free of debt or liabilities. We have also acquired the trading name, history and memorabilia of Bury FC.”

In quite a lengthy statement, the fans group explain a number of next steps that will take place over the next few weeks.

Over 500 people have signed up to help refurbish Gigg Lane along with support from local businesses.

It’s also been confirmed that Forever Bury will go through a rebrand and its future role will be detailed more in the coming days.

The group also stated that discussions with Bury AFC will resume next week, as they are committed to finding a “consensual path”

The statement added: “All major decisions will be subject to member vote, and an updated membership scheme will be announced next week.

“If you want a voice, we encourage you to become a member and vote.

“We will also communicate to our members far more regularly and with greater transparency.”

Local and national politicians have been thanked by Forever Bury along with Bury Council, Bury AFC and the Football Supporters Association.

The administrator of The Bury Football Club Company Ltd, Steven Wiseglass said: “We are delighted that this transaction has been successfully completed.

“It is a fantastic outcome for the fans, the club and the whole town, as it will hopefully bring football back to Gigg Lane. My hope all along has always been that Bury FC could be rescued.

“Bury is blessed with a passionate and dedicated group of supporters and we wish them well for the future.”

Mr Wiseglass confirmed The Bury Football Club Company Ltd remains in administration and that Inquesta is continuing with investigations into the company.

Further reaction to the news will follow in Roch Valley Radio Sport, tomorrow afternoon from 2pm.
