In a show of solidarity, Bury Football Club has invited Morecambe supporters to attend this weekend’s match at Gigg Lane for free, following ongoing concerns about the Shrimps’ future.
Bury FC has extended an open invitation to all Morecambe fans to attend their Northern Premier League West home opener on Saturday 9 August 2025. The gesture comes amid off-field turbulence for Morecambe FC, whose supporters are currently facing uncertainty over the club's future.
The Shakers, who themselves have experienced significant challenges in recent years, said they empathise deeply with the situation unfolding at the Lancashire coast side.
"To our friends at Morecambe FC, we want you to know: you are not alone," Bury stated in a message shared publicly on Tuesday. "Whether you're in need of a temporary football fix, a place to feel connected, or simply want to enjoy a matchday with fellow fans who understand, our gates and hearts are open to you."
Supporters wearing a Morecambe badge or showing a current season ticket will be granted *free entry* to Gigg Lane for the match against Newcastle Town.
The club encouraged fans to arrive in their colours and bring their voices, promising a warm welcome and matchday atmosphere built on mutual respect and understanding.
Bury FC’s gesture echoes wider movements in football aimed at supporting fans and communities through periods of financial or operational instability. Morecambe, like Bury, has a loyal following and strong community roots, qualities that Bury said deserve to be recognised and upheld during challenging times.
The home fixture kicks off at 3pm this Saturday.
