At 3:25pm today (Wednesday 12 April 2023), officers from GMP’s Economic Crime Unit and Money Laundering Team detained two males at Manchester Piccadilly Train Station in the City Centre.
The two men were searched and found in possession of £50K in cash and a Rolex watch.
Both men (aged 23 and 21) were arrested on suspicion of possession of criminal property and remain in custody for further questioning.
Detective Inspector James Coles, Head of GMP’s Money Laundering Team said: “We are extremely pleased with the outcome of the ongoing proactive operation called Operation Falcon. This operation is GMP’s response to tackling cash-based money laundering and organised crime in Greater Manchester.
“These arrests are two of the many successes of Operation Falcon and the teams who support it. Of course, our work does not stop here and we will continue to tackle organised crime and we will remove these individuals from our communities.
“If you have any information or wish to report any crime, report it to Greater Manchester Police today and we will act. You can report by calling 101 or submit information using our online tool on our website: www.gmp.police.uk
“Always call 999 in an emergency.
“Alternatively, if you wish to remain anonymous you can submit information using the independent charity Crimestoppers online or by calling 0800 555 111.”
