At around 10.10pm last night (Tuesday 23 April 2024), we were called to reports of a road traffic collision on Old Chapel Street near to the junction of St Matthews Road in Edgeley, Stockport, between a pedestrian and a car. It has been established that a Kia Ceed was travelling south along St Matthews Road and was intending to turn right onto Old Chapel Street. As the car looked to park on Old Chapel Street, it collided with a 56-year-old man who sustained serious injuries and remains in critical condition in hospital at this time. A 41-year-old woman was arrested at the scene on suspicion of causing serious injury by careless driving. Enquiries are ongoing at this stage. Our Serious Collision Investigation Unit (SCIU) are appealing for anyone who may have witnessed the incident to come forward. They are also keen to speak to anyone who may have any footage, including dashcam or mobile phone footage from the area in the moments leading up to the collision.
