Police in Oldham have launched a murder investigation after a man was found dead at a property on Eldon Street on Wednesday evening.
A 64 year old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder and remains in police custody following the discovery of a body in Oldham. Officers were called to the address at around 7.50pm on Wednesday 28 May 2025, where a 50 year old man was found deceased.
The victim’s family have been informed and are being supported by specially trained officers as enquiries continue to determine the cause of death and circumstances surrounding the incident.
Greater Manchester Police say the cause of death remains undetermined at this stage.
Detective Inspector Andrew Barrett, from Oldham CID, said: “We are working hard to understand what has happened and get the answers his family deserve.
“At the moment, the man’s cause of death is undetermined, but enquiries are ongoing, and we have made an arrest to progress this investigation forward.”
Officers are continuing to conduct door-to-door enquiries and remain in the area to provide reassurance to the local community.
“We have already spoken to several people living in the area,” DI Barrett added. “But house-to-house enquiries are continuing throughout the day. We would ask anyone who may have any information about the incident to please pass this onto officers, as it could be of great assistance.”
