A local campaigner with decades of service in the area has been chosen to stand for the Liberal Democrats in the upcoming Gorton and Denton by-election.
Jackie Pearcey will represent the Liberal Democrats in the Gorton and Denton by-election, having been selected as the party’s candidate with an agenda focused on fixing the NHS, tackling the cost of living, and supporting small businesses.
Pearcey, who has lived in the area for several decades, criticised the record of the Labour government and framed her campaign as a challenge to both Labour and Reform UK.
Speaking after her selection, she said, “Voters in Gorton and Denton deserve so much more than the failing Labour government or the divisive politics of Reform UK.”
She added that the election offers a “golden opportunity” to focus on issues that matter to local residents, including local services, health care, and economic stability.
Pearcey also pointed to her track record of community service and promised to fight for investment in local high streets and family support.
The date for the Gorton and Denton by-election has not yet been confirmed.
