A chemical engineer, who played an 'essential' role in a multi-million pound drugs ring, was sentenced yesterday (12 October 2022) to over three years imprisonment.
Hungarian national, Laszlo Viszocsanszki, date of birth 01/12/1966, was wanted for entering into the UK to help the drugs outfit, led by Gary O’Regan, to set up an amphetamine lab. O’Regan and the rest of the six-strong gang, were jailed for almost a century in January 2019, for the complex conspiracy in which they used pink ladies shoe boxes to conceal blocks of cocaine.
Viszocsanszki was extradited from Belgium on 29 June 2022, having received a four-year sentence after being found in a synthetic drugs lab in 2019.
Sentencing the self-proclaimed chemical engineer to 40 months in prison in a UK jail, the Judge at Manchester Crown Court determined that Viszocsankszki’s role had been essential to the drug gang’s enterprise and whilst he would not have known of the full scale of the operation, he must have been aware that it was a large-scale commercial operation.
The Judge also accepted that Viszocsanszki would have received a professional fee for his involved.
DC Christopher Chinnery of the Serious Crime Division at Greater Manchester Police said: “This sentence represents closure of this huge operation, involving an elaborate conspiracy carried out across the country.
“We monitored the activities of this drugs operation closely, which enabled us to gather evidence and unravel the conspiracy. We are committed to identifying and bringing down drugs operations, however big and complex, to make sure the drugs will never hit the streets of Greater Manchester – and ultimately keeping residents safe.”
