Bury Football Club is on the lookout for a new men’s first team manager following a senior restructure that sees Dave McNabb move into the role of Head of Football Operations.
The club is inviting applications from experienced and driven candidates to take over leadership of the men’s senior squad. The successful applicant will work directly alongside McNabb, who becomes the primary link between football operations and the club’s board.
Candidates are expected to bring proven experience at National League level (Step 2 or above), or a track record of success at Northern Premier League level (Step 3). Strong leadership qualities, a commitment to player development, and the ambition to push the club forward are essential.
The application window closes at 12pm on Sunday 7 December 2025. Interviews are scheduled across 8, 9 and 10 December. Interested candidates must send a CV and cover letter to Chair Gareth Castick at chair@buryfc.co.uk
The vacancy arises as part of a strategic shake-up at the club. McNabb, who led Bury to a historic North West Counties Football League title during a record-breaking season, now takes on a broader operational role focused on long-term footballing success. The change, the club said, reflects a wider vision for growth and sustainability at higher levels of the football pyramid.
Speaking on his appointment, McNabb said: “I’m really excited with the new role and the opportunity to focus on helping to push the football operations forward on and off the pitch with a clear strategy and roadmap.”
Chair of the FSSB Board, John Woodhead, said the move comes at no additional cost to the club and will help solidify its footballing and commercial strategy. “Dave has been instrumental in stabilising and progressing the football side of the club,” he said. “We’re delighted he’s chosen to continue this journey with us.”
In the meantime, assistant coach Tim Lees will take interim charge of the team as they prepare for their next match away at Shifnal Town.
