Littleborough Brass Band has finished second in the Third Section at the North West Regional Brass Band Championships in Blackpool.
The contest took place on Sunday 1 March at the Winter Gardens in Blackpool.
The result marks the band’s first appearance in the Third Section after being promoted at the start of the year.
Competing against bands from across the North West, Littleborough delivered a performance that earned praise from adjudicators for consistency, attention to detail and musical range.
Conductor Max Stannard said “I couldn’t be prouder of the band. Being newly promoted to the Third Section made this a real challenge, but every single player committed fully to the preparation process.
“Their focus, determination and team spirit really showed on stage. To come away with second place in our first year at this level is a fantastic achievement for everyone involved.”
The result means the band has qualified for the National Finals in September, which will be held in York.
The band last competed at the National Finals in 2024, where it finished fourth in the Fourth Section.
Littleborough Brass Band is part of the Littleborough Brass Bands Association, a volunteer led organisation that provides opportunities for people of all ages and abilities to learn and perform brass music.
Alongside the main contesting band, the association runs a training band and a community ensemble known as Boro Brass. Both groups are currently welcoming new members.
