Princess Eugenie names her baby daughter Adelaide Elizabeth Annina Brooksbank

Princess Eugenie has named her baby daughter Adelaide Elizabeth Annina Brooksbank, she has announced.

The baby, born two weeks ago in Portugal, is the third child of the King's niece and her husband Jack Brooksbank.

She wrote on Instagram: "Two weeks ago today we welcomed our girl to the world. And since then we've had the most special, cosy and love-filled time.

"We are so happy to share Adelaide Elizabeth Annina Brooksbank.

"Named after three people we love and admire past and present, including her great-grandmother who we hold close in our hearts. Her name is part of English and Portuguese history, two places we love and call home.

"Augie and Ernie are already the best big brothers."

The royal family's latest addition was born in Lisbon weighing 6lb 9oz.

It is understood the name Adelaide was inspired by Queen Adelaide (1792 - 1849) who was married to William IV, as well as Maria Adelaide of Portugal.

Annina was inspired by a personal connection to Eugenie and Jack, which has not been revealed.

The birth marks a rare occasion where a member of the British royal family has been born overseas, with Eugenie and her husband having a home and other connections in Portugal.

Eugenie shared new photos of Adelaide on Instagram, including one of the princess and Ernie holding the baby's hand.
