Cambridgeshire Police have begun a murder investigation after the death of a baby boy with a head injury.
Atijus Elertaite, who was three months old, was taken to hospital in a life-threatening condition on January 3.
Officers were called to a property in St John's Chase in the town of March just after 11am.
Atijus died five days later on January 8. Police said that a post-mortem examination recorded his preliminary cause of death as a head injury, pending further medical inquiries.
They added that a 22-year-old man and a woman, aged 25, both from March, were arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm (GBH) before Atijus's death.
On Thursday, the pair were re-arrested on suspicion of murder. They remain in custody.
Detective Inspector Verity McCann said: "We know the local community will be shocked and deeply saddened, and our thoughts remain with those affected by Atijus' death.
"We are working hard to establish exactly what happened and urge everyone to be mindful and not speculate on the case, particularly on social media, as this could affect our investigation."
Anyone with information that could help police is asked to call 101 and quote incident 124 of January 3, or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
