Andy Murray to join Jack Draper's coaching team for grasscourt season

Jack Draper has revealed he will team up with Andy Murray in a shake-up of his coaching set-up ahead of the grasscourt season.

British No 2 Draper announced he has split with Jamie Delgado after working under Murray's former coach for the past six months.

Draper confirmed his new-look coaching team would feature Murray, although the three-time Grand Slam winner has not officially been given the title of coach.

"I am very grateful for everything Jamie Delgado has done for me over these past six months," a Draper statement read. "He is a world-class coach and a great man.

"In the interim, I will continue to be supported by the excellent team at the LTA, with the addition of Andy Murray, who will be supporting me throughout the grasscourt season."

Murray will be tasked with getting - and keeping - Draper back on court after an injury-plagued start to his 2026 season.

The former world No 4 has not played since mid-April, with his return from an eight-month arm injury hampered by a succession of withdrawals.

The 24-year-old missed the Monte-Carlo Masters and Madrid Open and, most recently, saw his hopes of featuring at the French Open ended by a knee injury.

The news marks Murray's return to coaching after a six-month stint with Novak Djokovic ended in May 2025.

In a recent interview with Sky Sports, Murray shed light on how his experiences working alongside Djokovic had fuelled his desire to coach more.

"To be honest, I would coach again," he said. "I learned quite a lot, more just about coaching, about how you have to communicate your message to the player you are working with and how to listen to them.

"Having kids has helped me with that, learning to be more understanding and seeing something from another person's point of view and perspective."

'No one better qualified'

Jamie Murray believes there is no one better placed than his brother Andy to understand the position Draper is in at this point in his career.

Asked what his brother would bring to the Draper camp, Jamie told Sky Sports Tennis: "Experience of what it takes to prepare yourself for these events, and understanding what it takes to win these events, and also the pressure that goes with being the No 1 British player around and everything that entails.

"There's no one better qualified to understand what Jack will be going through.

"I think it's an exciting appointment. Jamie Delgado is really good friend of mine but, ultimately, I think Jack is going to do what he thinks is best for his career and we hope it works out."
