Rochdale families can expect a dose of Broadway magic next summer as the iconic musical Annie prepares to hit the stage at the Palace Theatre Manchester
The timeless tale of little orphan Annie will be returning to theatres across the UK and Ireland in 2026, with Manchester audiences set to enjoy the smash hit production for nearly two weeks in June.
Producers Michael Harrison and David Ian have announced that their acclaimed version of Annie will arrive at Manchester's Palace Theatre from Thursday 9 to Saturday 20 June 2026, as part of a major nationwide tour. Tickets for the Manchester dates will go on sale from 12 September 2025.
Set in 1930s New York, Annie follows the story of a young girl forced to live in a miserable orphanage run by the cruel Miss Hannigan. Her fortunes change when billionaire Oliver Warbucks invites her to spend Christmas at his mansion, setting in motion a heartwarming tale of hope, family, and resilience.
Audiences can look forward to classic songs including It’s the Hard Knock Life, Easy Street, I Don’t Need Anything But You and the unforgettable Tomorrow.
This new touring production will be directed by Nikolai Foster, Artistic Director at Curve, with choreography by Nick Winston, set and costume design by Colin Richmond, lighting by Ben Cracknell and sound design by Richard Brooker. Casting announcements are expected in the coming months.
The Annie UK & Ireland tour kicks off in London at the New Wimbledon Theatre on 23 May 2026 and will continue through 2027, visiting over 25 cities including Birmingham, Plymouth, Cardiff, Dublin, Edinburgh, Belfast and Glasgow.
