Metrolink have suspended services on the Bury line, due to overhead line damage.
A tweet shortly after 4pm today (Monday) read: "Due to severe weather conditions & damage to the overhead lines the Bury line is currently suspended.
"Tickets and passes are being accepted on the 97, 98, 135, 524 bus service."
This comes as Metrolink are imposing 15mph speed restrictions on some areas of the network due to the adverse weather.
A spokesperson said: "Speed restrictions, of 15mph in some locations, are now in place on parts of the Metrolink network.
"Journeys will take longer, so please allow additional time for travel.
"Ensure you have a bottle of water with you and keep checking our twitter for the latest info."
No timescales on when a full service will return have been confirmed by Metrolink.
TfGM say other areas of the transport network are also affected, with a number of rail services from Manchester Piccadilly being either delayed or cancelled due to the ongoing heatwave.
