Roch Valley Radio has been broadcasting at Fairfield Hospital since 2006 when it amalgamated Bury Lions Radio, Heywood FM and Birch Radio, you can find out more information about the stations history by clicking here and the station provides entertainment for the patients, staff and community within the Bury and Rochdale Care Organisation.
Today we provide a radio service to Fairfield General Hospital and Rochdale Infirmary, and have expanded via our internet streams to reach those in need in our local community, care homes, and nearby organisations and charities. We welcome all on-line listeners and hope our service has a positive effect on everyone in bringing a little relief and respite from any suffering.
We are a registered charity (No. 510445) based in Bury and Rochdale, with approximately fifty five volunteers who are dedicated to making the patient’s stay in hospital a little more pleasant. We produce a variety of programmes, which both entertain and inform, ranging from request shows to magazine-style shows with news, sport and features. Our music policy varies to meet all tastes from the latest chart and easy listening music to classical music and gospel.
As a voluntary organisation, we are always looking for new members to help us maintain and improve our service. So if your visit to our website has inspired you to get involved with Roch Valley Radio, please contact us. If you are not in the Rochdale or Bury area you can find out about other hospital radio stations in the UK by visiting the Hospital Broadcasting Association.
Our focus is towards support of those who may be unwell or isolated as we promote wellbeing, healthy living and caring, and we are sure we have something for everyone, whatever their circumstances.
